Homer Simpson: King of the hill

I think, generally speaking, you have to do quite a lot to upset pagans. But the people behind the Simpsons movie seem to have managed it with this. I suppose that as far as concerns about the Americanisation of British culture goes, this just about takes the doughnut, sorry, donut. Still, apparently it's drawn with paint that doesn't harm the environment and will wash off with the next significant rainfall. So, judging by the summer we're having I'll give it five minutes.

Perhaps they should just leave Homer there. He's a masterly reference to modern late 20thC/early 21st C modern culture, as an icon to contemporary mankind's desires and aspirations.

    Future historians will thank us.

  2. Good point. I think it's a cop-out though that Homer has his Y-fronts on. Especially as apparently you see Bart in his birthday suit in the new film! Maybe Homer just doesn't compare well to the Cerne Abbas giant in that department ...
